ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH 100th Birthday!
This year St. Anthony’s Catholic Church located at 1041 Bloor St W., celebrated its 100th Birthday! The parish is a multi-cultural family of 2,400 members, first founded by the Irish Catholic immigrants, and today is populated by the new comers from Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Sri Lanka, Mexico and the Philippines. The services are provided in English, Italian, Portuguese and Tagalog. The parish has been running since 1977 by Scalabrinians who are Missionaries committed to working with migrants. St. Anthony’s helped raise money to build 48 houses in India, and sent 5000 boxes of aspirin to Brazil, Haiti, the Philippines and migrant houses on the Mexico-U.S. and Mexico-Guatemalan borders.
